IberLAND. Beyond Property: Law and Land in the Iberian World, 1510–1850

IberLAND is a five-year research project funded by an ERC Consolidator Grant and hosted at Leibniz University Hannover (Germany). It explores the history of land tenure in a long-term and global perspective by focusing on the territories of the former Portuguese and Spanish empires in what has recently been labelled the Iberian world.

From 30 June to 3 July 2025, two members of the IberLAND team took part in the 150th International Congress of Americanists, held in Novi Sad, Serbia.
On June 1st 2025, Marlen Donají Palma Silva joined the IberLAND team as a postdoctoral researcher.
From 2 to 4 July 2025, Sarah Limão Papa participated in the 8th Biennial Conference of the European Society for Comparative Legal History (ESCLH), held at the University of Szeged, Hungary.
Last 18-19 June the postdoc Camilla de Freitas Macedo participated in the workshop ‘Political Economies of Small-Scale Agriculture: A History between Europe and the Colonial Worlds (ca. 1750-1850)’ which took place at the University of Turin, Italy.
