In February and March 2024, two members of the IberLAND team were in Seville (Spain).
Manuel Bastias Saavedra and Alina Rodríguez carried out archival research at the Archivo General de Indias, a fundamental archive for the study of Spanish America and Asia. On February 20, Manuel Bastias Saavedra gave a presentation in the Faculty of Law of the University of Seville. The presentation titled ‘Derecho fronterizo. Tierra, justicia y territorio en los confines del Pacífico (Valdivia, 1750-1830)’ dealt with the topics of frontier law and custom in the buying and selling of land in Chile during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
