Manuel Bastias Saavedra presented the project’s new book - Ownership Regimes in the Iberian World (1500-1850) (Brill, 2025), at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences (FCSH) of the New University of Lisbon (NOVA), on September 18th, 2025.
Part of the IberLAND team was reunited in Coimbra for the 7th biennial conference of the European Rural History Organisation (EURHO).
Marlen Donají Palma Silva, postdoctoral researcher, participated in two academic events in Mexico, presenting her research on women’s authority in colonial Oaxaca.
From 30 June to 3 July 2025, two members of the IberLAND team took part in the 150th International Congress of Americanists, held in Novi Sad, Serbia.
On June 1st 2025, Marlen Donají Palma Silva joined the IberLAND team as a postdoctoral researcher.
From 2 to 4 July 2025, Sarah Limão Papa participated in the 8th Biennial Conference of the European Society for Comparative Legal History (ESCLH), held at the University of Szeged, Hungary.
Last 18-19 June the postdoc Camilla de Freitas Macedo participated in the workshop ‘Political Economies of Small-Scale Agriculture: A History between Europe and the Colonial Worlds (ca. 1750-1850)’ which took place at the University of Turin, Italy.
From June 4-5, 2025, the IberLAND project welcomed the workshop Shaping Colonial Normativities. Law, Land and Villages in Goa (16th-19th centuries), at the Leibnizhaus (Hannover),
On May 21 and 22, two members of the IberLAND team participated in the international seminar "Registration of Rights: History, Comparison, and Current Issues", held at the "La Corrala" Cultural Center of the Autonomous University of Madrid.
Koldo Trapaga Monchet, Professor at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, visited Hannover between May 12th and 15th, 2024.
IberLAND’s PI Manuel Bastias Saavedra participated in the International Symposium on Law in Early Modern European Colonies, which took place at the Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies (Vila I Tatti) on April 29-30 in Florence.
Researchers from the IberLAND project participated in two academic events held in Oaxaca and Mexico City.
On March 13th, Camilla de Freitas Macedo, post-doc researcher of the IberLAND project, gave a seminar on Disputes over the commons in times of municipal governance (Disputas por los comunales en tiempos de municipalidad) at the Facultad d'Economia of the Universitat de Valencia (Spain).
On March 6th and 7th, Camilla de Freitas Macedo, post-doc researcher of the IberLAND project, attended the Conference titled "Du «commun» au «public» : concepts et pratiques de l’ordre social dans l’espace culturel ibéro-américain (XVIIIe-XIXe siècles)".
