Koldo Trapaga Monchet, Professor at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, visited Hannover between May 12th and 15th, 2024.
IberLAND’s PI Manuel Bastias Saavedra participated in the International Symposium on Law in Early Modern European Colonies, which took place at the Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies (Vila I Tatti) on April 29-30 in Florence.
Researchers from the IberLAND project participated in two academic events held in Oaxaca and Mexico City.
On March 13th, Camilla de Freitas Macedo, post-doc researcher of the IberLAND project, gave a seminar on Disputes over the commons in times of municipal governance (Disputas por los comunales en tiempos de municipalidad) at the Facultad d'Economia of the Universitat de Valencia (Spain).
On March 6th and 7th, Camilla de Freitas Macedo, post-doc researcher of the IberLAND project, attended the Conference titled "Du «commun» au «public» : concepts et pratiques de l’ordre social dans l’espace culturel ibéro-américain (XVIIIe-XIXe siècles)".
The first book of the project IberLAND has been published by Brill: 'Ownership Regimes in the Iberian World (1500-1850)', edited by Manuel Bastias Saavedra.
On 23 January 2025, our PhD candidate Alina Rodríguez Sánchez participated in the “Normative Knowledge and the Emergence of New Spain” conference, held at the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
From January 3–6, 2025, the IberLAND research team participated in the American Historical Association (AHA) Annual Meeting in New York City.
IberLAND’s post-doc researcher Roger Lee de Jesus participated in the workshop “Language Registers and Communication Strategies as Reflected in Premodern South Asian Inscriptions”, at the Institute for Asian and African Studies of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, on 29 November 2024.
From November 18–19, 2023, the IberLAND project organized the workshop Vinculação e Herança: A Dinâmica dos Morgadios e Capelas em Novos Contextos Geográficos, at Leibnizhaus (Hannover), organized by Edson Edy S.C. de Brito.
IberLAND’s PI Manuel Bastias Saavedra gave a Keynote Lecture at the conference Porque todo o lo más es nuevo en las Indias. Change and Variety on Colonial Law during the 18th Century, which took place at the Law Faculty of the Federal University of Ceará on November 11 and 12, 2024 in Fortaleza.
Researchers of the IberLAND project participated in the XLIII Conference of the Portuguese Association for Economic and Social History, from 15 to 16 November 2024 in Lisbon (Portugal), organized by the Lisbon School of Economics and Managment (ISEG)
Our PhD candidate, Sarah Limão Papa, participated in the 2024 Annual Meeting of the American Society for Legal History, held in San Francisco, California (USA), from October 24–26, 2024
From October 3rd to 4th, 2024, the IberLAND project, in collaboration with the Law Department of the University of Messina, hosted the international conference "Rethinking Property: Decentralized Histories of Land Tenure (16th – 19th centuries)."
